Hi. We’re so happy you found us!
Get to know us as we share the story of our family-owned fresh cut peony farm, blooming since 2024.
Hi there! My name is Jessica, and my family and I own and operate These Roots Peony Farm, a small peony farm near Salem, Oregon. My love for peonies started years ago when I was a little girl getting to make bouquets for my grandma using her gorgeous peonies she grew in her yard.
In 2021, I used nearly all of the empty space in my backyard and planted 40 peonies to grow as a hobby. I needed something to help me balance out my stressful, emotionally draining full time job. Thanks to my mom, I was lucky enough to get to plant 20 peonies from my grandma’s garden. The other 20 came from our local peony farms.
I had always wanted to move from the city back to the rural area I grew up in and everything came together in June 2024. I had the opportunity to purchase property. The property needed a lot of TLC after being vacant and neglected for quite some time, but I am now lucky enough to have land to grow peonies on.
My hobby got a little out of control and now we have a peony farm, and my family now have part time jobs as peony farmers they never applied for.
My daughter Laney and I are huge Eric Church fans, and we both love his song These Boots, so we decided These Roots was a perfect name for our little peony farm!
Since purchasing the property, I have spent nearly all of my free time either working on the property or researching and planning the expansion of our peony farm. I have zero farming experience, and I’ve never ran a small business, so I’m definitely learning as I go. I feel like I’m back in college with all of the studying I’ve been doing! Thank goodness for books, Google, and coffee! Thanks for following along, we are excited about what’s to come!
